The Lazy Goldmine

The Lazy Goldmine: How to Get Paid for the Ideas Already Rotting in Your Notes App

We’ve all been there. You’re lying in bed at 2 AM, and you have a million-dollar idea. You open your Notes app, type out a quick outline, and feel a rush of productivity. Then… nothing.

Morning comes, the "hustle" feels like too much work, and that idea joins the graveyard of 50 other half-finished projects. You want the bank account of a CEO, but you have the motivation of a sloth on a rainy Sunday.

The truth is: You don’t need more motivation. You just need to stop overcomplicating the "output."

The "Lazy Goldmine" Strategy

The biggest mistake you’re making is thinking you need to build a 300-page ebook or a 10-module course to make money. That sounds like a lot of "tasks," and we both know you aren't going to do them.

Instead, sell your scraps. If you’ve already solved a tiny problem for yourself, someone else will pay $5, $10, or $20 to not have to think about it. Gumroad was built for this. You don’t need a fancy website; you just need a link.

The 15-Minute "Zero-Friction" Setup

If you can scroll through social media for an hour, you can set this up in 15 minutes. Here is exactly how to do it:

1. Registration (The 2-Minute Version)

  • Go to Gumroad.com.

  • Click "Start Selling." Use the "Sign in with Google" button to skip the annoying forms.

  • Payouts: Go to the Settings > Payments tab. Link your PayPal or your Bank Account. (Have your ID ready once and never look at it again).

2. Uploading Your First "Output"

  • Product Type: Click "New Product" and select "Digital Product."

  • The Content: Drag and drop your file. Whether it’s a PDF, a Notion link, or a ZIP file of images, just upload it.

  • Pricing: Set a price that feels like a "no-brainer" (e.g., $9.00).

  • The Pitch: Write 2 sentences. "This is [Product Name]. It helps you [Result] without [Effort]." Publish.

3 "Lazy Seller" Pro-Tips for 2026

  1. Don't Create Repurpose: Look for spreadsheets, templates, or lists of resources you already use for work or hobbies. That is your product.

  2. Turn on "Discover": Gumroad has a marketplace that recommends your product to strangers. They take a cut, but they do the marketing for you. It's the ultimate "passive" move.

  3. The Screenshot Hack: When you get your first "You made a sale!" email, screenshot it and post it. People love buying what others are already buying.

The "Done is Better Than Perfect" Checklist

  • [ ] Find one file on your computer you finished months ago.

  • [ ] Sign into Gumroad with Google.

  • [ ] Upload the file and set the price to $7.

  • [ ] Post the link on your profile.

  • [ ] Go back to doing nothing.

Bottom Line: Your Notes app is currently a liability. Move those ideas to Gumroad and turn them into an asset today

If you’re too lazy to even find your own scraps, you can just grab these https://gumroad.com/discover?a=918366355 and re-package them. It’s what I did to get my first few listings live without actually working.
